http://sovtchittenden.blogspot.com/p/2012-team-bowling-teams.html
Please contact Dave or  Karen Bogdan at 865-3840 or kraze1@comcast.net if you want to bowl and are not on a team or if you are on a team and cannot bowl!  Remember, this is a team sport and your team will be at a disadvantage at the competition if anyone is absent. Therefore, everyone must commit to competing on Sunday January 22nd  or you will not be allowed to bowl.

Unfortunately, the team bowling schedule conflicts with Alpine Skiing again this year.  If you wish to do both Alpine Skiing and Team Bowling, we will form bowling teams of Alpine skiers.  The Alpine bowling teams may make up bowling as a team during open bowling at Champlain Lanes but must commit to attending the bowling competition on Sunday January 22nd.  If you do not intend to compete Sunday January 22nd, please do not sign up for team bowling.

NOTE: All athletes MUST have a current medical on file PRIOR to the start of practice or you will not be allowed to start practice!  If you are not sure your medical is current, please contact Karen Bogdan at 865-3840.

2011 Fall Soccer

Chittenden
Delegation’s 2011 Soccer Program

Dear Athletes, Parents, Guardians, and Caregivers:

On behalf of the entire volunteer coaching staff which includes Maggie Trayah, Mark Robertson, Giles Willey, Lori Uerz and Katie Bernhardt, let me welcome you to the Chittenden Delegation’s 2011 Soccer Program.

We are happy to announce that this year’s program officially begins on Tuesday, August 9th at 6:00 pm at our practice field located at Camp Johnson in Colchester; within sight-line of the main gate. A special thank you to Lt. Col. Lloyd Goodrow for, again, securing this wonderful field for our use; which will be cut and marked in time for our first practice.

Also, a very special thank you to Vermont Systems for last year’s donation of new uniforms, warm-up tops, and 4 practice goals.

Practices will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00 – 7:30 pm right up to the Special Olympics Vermont Statewide Tournament at Norwich University on Saturday, October 8th.

You can expect that our coaches will be working with each athlete to have fun, to teach the game, to build a sense of teamwork and most importantly promote good sportsmanship in practice and in competition.

You can expect that our coaches will treat all athletes, parents, guardians, and caregivers with respect and ask you to provide that same level of respect to our coaches and to other athletes.

Like last year, we will be organizing athletes into three groups to maximize their skill development while maintaining our focus on safety for all athletes.

As coaches, we have an expectation that athletes will arrive on time for practice and will be are picked up on time at the conclusion of practice --- as our volunteer coaches have commitments as well. We  will also make an extra effort to end practice on time.

As coaches, we have an expectation that each athlete will arrive wearing a team purple practice t-shirt, black shorts, soccer cleats, shin guards, with a water bottle, and a soccer ball --- ready to play.

Per the requirements of Special Olympics Vermont, please understand the need we have for up-to-date medical forms and information on each athlete. Please submit any and all required form as quickly as possible.

If you have an issue of concern, please call me at 802.899.5506 so we can resolve it as soon as possible.

Dedicated to keeping it fun, safe, and respectful,

Head Coach Bob Uerz

PS.
With regard to inclement weather, please go to the Chittenden Delegation website/blog located at http://sovchittenden.blogspot.com to learn if practice is canceled. Once practice has been canceled for the day, it will not be changed even if the weather improves later in the day!

PPS.
In order to keep expenses down, we will again be car pooling to the Statewide Tournament at Norwich University. So please consider helping us in this regard, if possible.

2011 Winter Games, March 11 - 13

_DSC1189
_DSC1309

Athletes and parents,
On 11, 12, and 13 of March, the Chittenden Delegation will be staying at the Woodstock Inn and competing at the nearby Suicide Six ski area. I hope this message will give you the information you need, but if you have questions, please call Maggie at 524-3142, Kirk at 878-3431 or Karen at 865-3840.
Parents and guests
You are all welcome to come to the games to cheer the athletes on; the ski area is in South Pomfret, six miles north of Woodstock. Assuming the daily schedule will be the same as last year, the competition will begin at 9:00 both Saturday and Sunday morning. On Saturday the last race will end around 3:15, on Sunday around 11:45.
Team travel
The Chittenden delegation will travel by car pool caravan leaving from the VTSO office in Williston and returning to the same place. You should be at the Special Olympics office by 2:30 PM on Friday, March 11th. We will return by 2:30 PM on Sunday, March 13th. A phone list will be brought so that we can make cell phone calls if our return time changes significantly.
Clothing
The athletes need to have clothing appropriate to being outdoors for two hours on Friday evening at the opening ceremony, for competing on Saturday and Sunday, and for the dance on Saturday night.
** BRING YOUR RED SPECIAL OLYMPICS JACKET! **
Daily Logistics and Packing
On Saturday morning before breakfast, we need to be ready to board a bus at 7:00 to go to the ski area. Athletes must have everything that they will need until 4:00 pm when we will return by bus to the Woodstock Inn. On Sunday we will need to clear everything from our our rooms by 7:00 AM, before breakfast, and car pool to the ski area. We will not be returning to Woodstock; we will leave Sunday afternoon directly from the ski area. In order to make these moves without fail, athletes will have to pack very carefully. They should bring one bag for ski/snowshoe equipment and one other bag for clothing. Please do not overpack! Bring only those items that they really need.
Friday evenings meal
The Woodstock Inn will be offering pizza by the slice. Please bring $10.00 to buy your own pizza and drink Friday evening. You may want to bring additional money for souvenirs from the Woodstock Inn or Suicide Six.

Saturday and Sunday Meals
Breakfast and lunch on Saturday and Sunday and dinner on Saturday evening will be provided to credentialed people as part of the program.
More details
More details may be found in the Coaches Handbook on the VTSO website.
Thanks!!!
