2009 Swimming Practice

Swimming Practice begins Saturday April 4th, 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Ross Sports Center, Saint Michaels College. The following dates are confirmed:

April 4th - St Mike's 1:00 - 2:30 PM
April 18th - St Mike's 1:00 - 2:30 PM
April 25th - St Mike's 1:00 - 2:30 PM
May 2nd - St Mike's 1:00 - 2:30 PM

We are working on confirming the remaining practice dates. The pool is available but we do not have confirmed life guards. Please watch the weblog and your email for updates on the practice schedule.

2009 Softball Practice

Softball practice begins Saturday April 4th, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM. All practices will be held at the Schifilitti Fields in Burlington

Directions to the field:

Coming from downtown Burlington: go north on North Ave, past the Burlington High School and Ethan Allen Park. Turn right onto Gosse Ct (Shell station on the corner) and take it to the end.

Coming from Colchester: turn right onto Plattsburg Ave and then left onto North Ave. Turn left onto Gosse Ct (shell station on the corner) and take it to the end.

Special Olympics Vermont Young Athletes

Special Olympics Vermont Young Athletes program introduces young children with intellectual disabilities and their families to the world of Special Olympics.


Young Athletes Program
  • is an innovative sports play program for children ages 2 -7
  • is a series of developmentally appropriate activities designed specifically for young children and their family members
  • seeks to strengthen physical development and self-esteem for children by building skills for future sports participation and socialization prior to Special Olympics competition eligibility

Special Olympics Vermont has partnered with the University of Vermont to offer this unique program to children ages 2 – 7. UVM will provide instructors to lead the class in age appropriate play activities. Parents will participate with their child in each week’s activities and can simulate the activities learned during the class at home.

Dates: March 28, April 11, 18, and 25

Life Enhancement Group

Group focus:
Through group discussion and exercises, participants will learn and practice strategies for living for today and planning for their future.

Group Description:
This eight-session workshop is for young men and women who would like to build their independent life skills and enhance their lives.
Participants will learn and practice skills for making friends, initiating conversation, making decisions, expressing feelings and managing disappointment.

About the Group Facilitator:
As a coach and group facilitator I support the uniqueness of individuals by encouraging clients to view their personal transitions as amazing growth opportunities.
My approach is highly creative, compassionate and tailored to the unique needs of each individual.

Cost:
The fee is $35.00 per session for an eight-session workshop which includes their dinner for a total of $280.00 per person. Starting in April the group meets every other Friday at 7:00pm for 1 hour for 8 weeks ending June 2009.
